You've probably already got one of these running. Jobber or Housecall Pro to run the job once it's booked. GoHighLevel to automate the follow-up texts. Angi or HomeStars to buy the lead in the first place.
Each one does a piece. None of them do all four, for one company, in one trade, in one region: yours. I built mine to do all four.
Side by Side
Seven things: whether a call turns into a paid job, what it costs you each month, and who reads your request when you need a change.
| What you get | Growth Engine | Jobber or Housecall Pro | GoHighLevel | Angi or HomeStars |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Finds new jobs | Yes. Your website, Google, and ads bring the calls to you. | No. They run the job once it's booked. | The parts are there. You or a reseller build the campaigns. | Yes, by selling you a lead other contractors also get. |
| Missed-call text | Yes, sent automatically. | No. | Only once someone sets it up. | No. |
| Website included | Yes, built to turn a visitor into a call. | No. | A template the reseller sets up. | No. You get a profile on their site. |
| Per-lead fees | None. | None. They don't supply leads. | None. It doesn't supply leads. | Yes. Commonly $15 to $85 per lead on Angi, roughly the same in Canadian dollars on HomeStars. |
| Lead exclusivity | Yours only. One company per trade per region. | No leads supplied. | No leads supplied. | Shared with three to eight other contractors. |
| Monthly price | $0 on a shared site plus 10% of jobs the system brings you, or $1,000 flat for a private site. $500 to start either way. | Jobber $39 to $599, Housecall Pro $59 to $329, by plan and team size. | $97 to $497 for the software, plus what the reseller charges to set it up and run it. | Membership (about $288 a year on Angi, commonly $200 to $300 a month on HomeStars), plus a fee per lead. |
| Who reads your feature request? | Me, the person who builds it. | A product team in Edmonton (Jobber) or San Diego (Housecall Pro). | A product team in Dallas. | A product team in Denver (Angi) or Toronto (HomeStars). |
The Real Cost Isn't the Monthly Bill
A subscription looks cheap next to a bundle. It stops looking cheap once you count what's missing.
Run Jobber for scheduling, GoHighLevel for follow-up, and a lead-site membership on top, and you're paying three companies before a single job is booked. None of them share a customer record. You're the one copying the name from one screen to the next.
- A missed call on Jobber or Housecall Pro doesn't trigger a GoHighLevel text unless you build that wiring yourself.
- A lead you paid for on Angi or HomeStars doesn't show up anywhere else: not in your customer list, not in your follow-up, not in your reporting.
- Every gap between tools is a job that falls through while you're the one holding it together.
Jobber and Housecall Pro Run the Job. Neither One Finds It.
Both are good at what they're built for. Once a customer is already yours, Jobber and Housecall Pro schedule the crew, send the invoice, and take the payment.
Neither one answers the question that decides whether you get the next job: how does that customer find you, and who calls them back when you can't.
- No website built to turn a search into a call.
- No marketing or lead tracking: you still need a separate agency or ad account to fill the calendar Jobber and Housecall Pro then manage.
- No missed-call recovery. If you're up a ladder when the phone rings, that call goes to voicemail the same as it would with no software at all.
To be fair: if you need built-in customer financing at checkout, or job-costing reports broken down by labor and material, Jobber and Housecall Pro already do that well. I don't do either of those today.
GoHighLevel Gives You the Pieces. You Still Build It.
GoHighLevel bundles more than Jobber or Housecall Pro do: a website template, a customer list, and automatic texts and emails, all under one login.
It ships as a blank platform. A trades "snapshot" means someone else configured a template for you. You're still the one writing the follow-up messages, fixing what breaks, and hoping the reseller who built it is still answering the phone next year.
- No single company stands behind the result. Quality depends entirely on which reseller configured your snapshot.
- Nothing purpose-built for how a trades job moves from a missed call to a paid invoice; you're bending a generic template built for every industry at once.
To be fair: if you want to build and rewire your own automatic follow-ups by hand, GoHighLevel hands you the raw tools to do it yourself. I built the system around your job record instead of handing you the parts.
Pay-Per-Lead Sites Sell the Same Customer to Your Competitor Too
Angi and HomeStars are the same company. You pay a membership fee, then pay again for every lead, and that same lead usually lands in three to eight other inboxes at the same time.
You're not buying a customer. You're buying a spot in a race, and you don't find out you lost it until you call back and hear they already booked someone else.
- A membership fee before a single lead arrives, then a per-lead charge on top of that: commonly $15 to $85 on Angi, roughly the same range converted to Canadian dollars on HomeStars.
- The lead isn't exclusive. Your competitor down the street can be looking at the exact same name and number right now.
- Both carry a contract with a real penalty if you want out early.
To be fair: if all you want is more calls this month, and you're willing to split them with whoever else bought the same lead, a lead site gets you that. I'll build you a website and marketing that earns your own calls instead, in a region reserved for your company alone.
What One Connected System Gets You Instead
Replace the subscription-plus-membership stack above with one system built around your own job record.
- A website built to turn a visitor into a call.
- One phone number and customer list that keeps every lead attached to the same customer, from first contact through payment.
- Automatic follow-up on a missed call, an unanswered quote, or a job that's ready for a review.
- Which ad got you each job, tracked on that same record, not in a separate report you have to cross-reference by hand.
- No charge per lead, and no selling the same homeowner to your competitor.

Common Questions
Is my lead mine, or is it shared like Angi or HomeStars?
It's yours.
Your service area is reserved for your company and your trade. I don't put a second company from the same trade into the same region, and I don't sell the same customer twice.
I already use Jobber or Housecall Pro. Do I have to drop it?
No. I built Growth Engine to run alongside a field-service tool you already like, handling the website, marketing, and follow-up that Jobber and Housecall Pro don't.
If it's working well for scheduling and invoicing, keep it running.
How is this different from a GoHighLevel snapshot?
A snapshot is a template someone else configured for you, and the result depends entirely on that reseller.
I build and maintain Growth Engine as one system around your trade, not a template you inherit from whoever sold it to you.
How is this different from paying a marketing agency?
I publish pricing and cancellation terms before you ever talk to me. There are no prepaid lead packages and no per-lead invoices.
I also connect the marketing to your phone system, customer list, quoting, and payments, so you can see what produced a paid job, not just a click.
What if I'm still under contract with a lead site or an agency?
Tell me the date it ends.
I can have your website and system ready to go live the day it does, so you're not paying two vendors at once for longer than you have to.
See What This Costs
I publish pricing, I don't sales-call you. See the two ways to buy it on Pricing, or book a 20-minute call with Robert and I'll walk through your own numbers against what you're paying now.
