Privacy Policy
Effective October 10, 2026. Strategic Mind ("Strategic Mind", "we", "our") provides the Growth Engine, a marketing, website, and customer records service, to trades businesses. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through strategicmind.com under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
1. Who We Are
Strategic Mind runs strategicmind.com and the Growth Engine from Canada. Reach us by phone or through the contact form at the bottom of this page.
2. Client Websites This Policy Also Covers
Strategic Mind also builds and runs websites for individual trades businesses, including darteno.com. On one of these client websites, the trades business is responsible for your personal information under PIPEDA. Strategic Mind is its service provider and handles that information the way this policy describes: what is collected, how it links to a customer record, how long it is kept, and how it is protected. The client website's own privacy page names the trades business and tells you how to reach them about a request under Your Rights Under PIPEDA below.
3. Information We Collect
Information you give us. When you book a call or send us a message, we collect what you send: your name, email address, phone number, company details, and anything you tell us about your business.
Information collected automatically. Our website records how it is used. That can include:
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Scrolling, buttons clicked, and forms started or sent
- How fast pages load, JavaScript errors, and page-load errors
- Device type and rough location, based on your IP address
- Return visits, and your path across visits
We use one first-party cookie, kept for 12 months, to link this activity to one visit or returning visitor. We use no third-party advertising or analytics cookies.
4. Connecting Website Activity to Your Customer Record
The Growth Engine links anonymous website activity to a known customer once that customer identifies themselves, for example by sending a form with their email address. When that happens, we link your browsing from this visit and earlier visits to your customer record. If you come back later, even on a different device, and identify yourself again, that visit is linked to the same record. This shows us your path from first visit to a booked call or job. The Growth Engine does the same for the trades businesses that use it, for their own website visitors and customers.
5. Phone Calls and Text Messages
If you give us a phone number, we may call or text you about your request, for example to confirm a booked call or follow up on a conversation. We text you only with your consent, which you give when you send a form with your phone number, as CASL requires. To stop calls or texts from us, use the form below or call us, and we honour your request.
Calls to and from a trades business that uses the Growth Engine may be recorded, and a recorded call opens with a short message saying so. The recording is saved on your customer record with that business, so its crew can check what was agreed. Only that business's crew can play it back.
6. Messages From a Trades Business You Hired
When a trades business that uses the Growth Engine finishes paid work for you, we send emails and texts for it: a Google review request, a referral request, a warranty check, maintenance reminders, promotions, and a thank-you. These go only to that business's own customers, about the work it did for you. A trades business can also give us a file of its customers from before it used the Growth Engine, with names, email addresses, phone numbers, and job details. We add them to that business's customer list. When you reach a trades business through a referral link a past customer shared with you, your customer record with that business shows who referred you. When a trades business you hired refers you to a business in another trade, with your agreement, we send your name, contact details, address, and the work you need to that business.
Under CASL, we send these messages only to a customer who paid that business in the last 2 years or who agreed to hear from it. Each message names the trades business and has an unsubscribe link. When you unsubscribe, your customer record is marked so that business sends you no more campaign messages. We use each business's customer list only for that business.
7. Why We Use This Information
We use the information above to answer your request, run and improve strategicmind.com, learn which marketing and website changes work, find and fix technical problems, follow up with you by email, phone, or text, and send campaign messages for a trades business you hired, as described above.
8. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it with outside service providers who help us run our business, such as cloud hosting, email delivery, and calendar providers, who must protect it. We may also disclose it where the law requires, or to protect the rights and safety of Strategic Mind or others.
9. How Long We Keep It
We keep personal information as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it for, for the business records of our relationship with you, or to meet our legal duties. Raw web server logs are kept for 7 days, then summarized into longer-term statistics that no longer serve an operating purpose on their own.
10. Safeguards
We protect personal information with reasonable physical, technical, and organizational safeguards. Every page and every request to our systems travels over encrypted HTTPS, with older, weaker encryption turned off. A web application firewall blocks automated attacks before they reach our systems. Only signed-in staff accounts can open customer records, and their passwords and keys are changed on a regular schedule. Nothing sent over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee perfect security.
11. Your Rights Under PIPEDA
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to its use, within any legal or contract limits. Use the form below or call us, and we respond within 30 days. If you are not happy with our answer, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at www.priv.gc.ca.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top of this page is the date of the latest change. If you keep using the website after a change, you accept the updated policy.
13. Contact Us
Have a question about this policy, or want to use one of your rights above? Tell us what you need below, and we follow up by email. This form keeps our email address off the page, away from spam bots.
