Contractor Software Development Status: What's Ready and What's Next

See what's working, what's still being built, and what you should know before putting the Growth Engine to work for your contracting business.

The Growth Engine is being built and tested with residential contractors in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

The website technology is live. The customer system (CRM) is still being connected. The first contractors are helping shape how the complete Growth Engine works in real businesses.

I publish these updates so you can see what is ready, what is being tested, and what still needs work before you commit.

What Hasn't Been Proven Yet?

No contractor has completed a full season using the complete Growth Engine.

That means I haven't yet proven how well it performs across the busy and slow seasons of a contracting business.

Three parts of the business model are still being tested:

  • Pricing: whether the fees make financial sense for different residential trades.
  • Percentage-based fees: whether the pricing structure works fairly as a contractor's business grows.
  • Shared Regional Websites: how well the model works as more contractors join.

The Growth Engine is being developed alongside real businesses, so what works on paper gets tested against how each crew actually works.

How Contractor Feedback Shapes Development

A contractor doesn't need another tool that creates more office work.

I want to know where jobs are still being lost, where the crew wastes time, and which parts of the Growth Engine don't fit how contractors actually work.

Three kinds of feedback help most:

  • Pricing that doesn't fit your trade. Tell me which fees don't make sense and why.
  • Questions customers keep asking. These help improve the website content and information homeowners see before calling.
  • Work that falls through the cracks. Missed calls, estimates that never receive a response, forgotten quote reminders, and site visits that take too many messages to arrange.

I review this feedback as development continues and publish significant progress in the monthly updates above.

What Early Website Traffic Is Showing

Early traffic data shows that many visitors arriving through AI search go directly to a phone call instead of browsing several pages.

That changes how I build contractor websites.

Each service page needs to explain clearly what the contractor does, where they work, and why a homeowner should contact them.

The information must also be accurate. That's why I ask contractors for real photos of completed projects and make sure their websites advertise only services they can actually deliver.

The goal is straightforward: help homeowners find the right contractor and feel confident enough to call.

Founding Contractor Program: 10 GTA Trades

I'm looking for residential contractors who want to help develop the Growth Engine while receiving preferred founding-customer pricing.

There are 10 founding spots, limited to one company per trade across the Greater Toronto Area.

The program is intended for contractors who want more than a website. They want a better way to attract homeowners, answer calls, book site visits, follow up on quotes, and keep track of customers.

In return for early participation and regular feedback, founding contractors receive special pricing and direct access to me as the Growth Engine develops.

What Founding Contractors Receive

  • $0 setup fee instead of $500.
  • Pricing locked for 24 months. Your rate stays at today's published pricing for your chosen plan, with no annual adjustment for 24 months.
  • Every website lead for at least three months on a Shared Regional Website. Until additional contractors are added for your trade, all inquiries generated by your Shared Regional Website go to you.
  • Direct access to me. Call or text me rather than going through a support queue.
  • Input into development priorities. Tell me which features would make the biggest difference to your business.

What I Ask in Return

  • 15 minutes of feedback each month. Tell me what's working, what isn't, and where the Growth Engine needs improvement.
  • An honest review if I've earned one. If the Growth Engine doesn't meet your expectations, I'd rather know why.
  • Permission to share results, if you approve. Real examples of calls answered, quotes followed up, and site visits booked help show what the Growth Engine does. Nothing is published without your permission.

Who Can Apply?

The Founding Contractor Program is designed for residential trades companies that:

  • Operate in the Greater Toronto Area.
  • Have one to five crews.
  • Want to be the first company representing their trade on the Growth Engine, on either plan.
  • Compete on workmanship and service rather than offering the lowest price.
  • Are willing to provide regular feedback as the Growth Engine develops.

Common Questions About the Growth Engine's Development

Is the Growth Engine ready for contractors to use?

The website technology is already running on live contractor websites. The core customer system is working, but some features are still being connected. The complete Growth Engine has not yet been tested through a full contracting season. I'll explain which features are ready before you join.

Has any contractor started using the Growth Engine?

Yes. Darteno, a landscaping and hardscaping company, launched on the first Shared Regional Website in July 2026. This demonstrates the website technology in use, not the completed performance of every Growth Engine feature.

What does the Founding Contractor Program cost?

Founding contractors pay no setup fee, instead of $500, and their pricing is locked for 24 months. On a Shared Regional Website, the service fee is the published rate for the contractor's Google rating. On a Private Website, it's $1,000 a month.

Review Current Pricing.

Will founding contractors get every lead?

On a Shared Regional Website, founding contractors receive every inquiry generated by that website for at least three months, until other contractors are added for that trade. This is an initial period only, and the number of inquiries depends on what the website brings in.

Can I suggest changes to the Growth Engine?

Yes. Founding contractors are asked to provide approximately 15 minutes of feedback each month. This feedback helps determine which improvements and features should receive priority.

What happens if the Growth Engine doesn't fit my business?

Before you join, I'll go through the available features, your business requirements, and what is still under development with you. The purpose is to identify important gaps before you depend on the Growth Engine.

Is the Founding Contractor Program available outside Toronto?

The current founding program is limited to residential contractors operating in the Greater Toronto Area.
